  1. Dear BVLH Executive,
I have been a member of this organization since its inception many years ago, and sat on the first Executive, when Jennifer Stewart was our President. I left our last AGM very disappointed. This was due to a number of things: the low turn-out, the decision of the Executive to treat themselves and former Volunteers to dinner out, using the Fees from members, the repeated requests for donations for the BBQ, (prior to seeing the food offerings), and finally, the tiny portions of cold, overcooked meat served with the “option” of an overcooked hamburger or a shrivelled hot dog. It left me greatly discouraged. I think that those in attendance would agree. Thus, the description of the BBQ in this Newsletter is misleading.

Last year I sent an email with photos about blue-green algae on the First Island at the north end. I never received a reply. I believe that communication is a 2-way process. Perhaps this experience was a unique event. It too had left me discouraged.
